Norman E. Mahoney, Jr., age 81, of Wickliffe, went on to his next great adventure on May 14, 2023. Norman was born on August 4, 1941, in Cleveland, OH to the late Norman, Sr. and Adine (nee Guy).
Norman was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam Era in Thailand. Norm was the first President of the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the American Truck Historical Society. He was a member of the Dodge Brothers Club, Antique American Racing Association, and the Ohio Gun Collectors Association. Norm was the youngest antique dealer in Ohio in 1957 at age 16.
He built antique cars, a “big rig” GMC truck to haul steel, and a modified 1953 White Super Power truck. About five years later he built a 1924/25 Dodge Brothers two-man dirt track race car sponsored by Mahoney’s Lunch and called the Blue Plate Special. Norm was a lover of dogs, raising 18 pups over the course of his life. He was also a wonderful cook.
Norman was the beloved husband to his second and current favorite wife, Cecily (nee Rehburg); former spouse to his first wife, Claire (nee Fromm); loving father of Marie (Jamie) Knue, Shannon, Eva Dickard and Matthew; devoted grandfather of Braeden, Sophia, Keena, Tyler, Marrissa and Sean; dear brother of Sarah (Brian) Russell-Wedler; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, on Thursday, May 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 8:00 p.m. Inurnment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.

Norm was the last of the good guys, friend of the rich, enemy of the poor, leader of the wolfpack and sometimes custodian.
