Louis “Snooky” Massey Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Louis R. “Snooky” Massey, age 78, of Euclid, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 24th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 29840 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. A loving and caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, entered this life on March 6, 1940 and entered into eternal life on March 19, 2018. Mr. Massey was also the oldest of nine children.

Louis is lovingly survived by his five children, daughter Pamela (Bryant) Massey Nesmith and her children, Ryan, William and Virginia; son Louis H. Massey and his children, Tiffany, Jessica, Louis and Jonathan; youngest son Richard G. (Melissa) Massey and his children, Olivia and Ashley; twin daughter Sheila D. Massey and her daughter Natalie; and twin daughter Sharae G. Massey; a devoted great grandfather of 11 ½ great grandchildren. He leaves to cherish memories, his sisters, Marietta (John) Fryer, Annette (Bernard) Tinker and Linda Massey; brothers, Anthony (Catherine) and Michael; As a military man, stationed in Mobile, Alabama, he met and married Theresa Bryant in 1960. Later in life, he met Lolita Johnson, the mother of his twin daughters, to whom he remains friends. He will be deeply missed by nieces and nephews, Billy, Timmy, Sheila, Danny, Karla, John, Anthonette, Angela, Alisa, Christopher, Nicole, Louis, Jennifer, Jessica, Jonathan, Marielle, his 24 great nieces and nephews and 7 great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis J. and Gwendolyn (nee Johnson) and his brothers Walter, Dennis, and Raymond.

Louis was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Wickliffe, where as a young man he was an altar boy. He attended St. Edward’s and Wickliffe Elementary schools, attended Cathedral Latin High School and graduated from Wickliffe High School in 1957. Growing up in Cleveland, he was a Red Feather Kid for one year and was an actor performing on stage at the Karamu House. While living in Cleveland, he had a variety of interesting jobs, working in a Cleveland Hospital, a Cleveland Post Office, assembling on the line at TRW, delivering sausage for Ray’s Sausage, which connected Louis with a multitude of friends over the years from every walk of life. He never met a stranger, always told a good joke, had a contagious laugh and memory like and elephant.

After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Air Force for four years, serving his country as a Medical Assistant. During that time, he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and Mobile, Alabama.

The family will receive friends at The Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe Friday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
