Loretta Irene Kotula (nee Turnbull), born September 18, 1934 in Aultman, PA, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 in Hospice Care at The Inn at Olentangy Trail, Delaware, OH. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents Irwin and Ethel (nee Smith) Turnbull; husband, Karl and son, Mike.
Loretta is survived by her brother, Irwin (Smitty) Turnbull; son, Bob (Connie); daughter-in-law, Cindy (Steve) Klemm; grandchildren, Patty (Seth) Stewart, Tom (Libby), Sarah (Jason) Luthy, Beth (Bobby) Karl, Dan (Tara), along with 16 great-grandchildren; also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Punxsutawney, PA High School, Loretta married Karl and moved to Cleveland, OH. Loretta worked for General Electric at Nela Park for most of her career where she inspected lamps in their testing labs. Karl and Loretta settled in Euclid, OH and were lifelong parishioners of St. Stephen’s Byzantine Catholic Church, where Loretta volunteered for many years making pierogies.
Following Loretta’s retirement, she enjoyed traveling all over the US with her mother, brother, and sister-in-law Doris. They enjoyed sightseeing, casinos, food (especially soup), and family. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, jigsaw puzzles, and especially making “Baba Buns” and raisin-filled cookies for her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by many.
A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Holy Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Church, 532 Lloyd Rd, Euclid, OH 44132. Interment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp., OH following the liturgy.
