Mass of Christian Burial for John E. Zalokar, age 82, of Wickliffe, will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. John was born on July 22, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a graduate of Gilmour Academy, John Carroll University (B.B.A.) and served in the U.S. Army. After graduation, John was an underwriter for Aetna Insurance and then the owner of “I’ve Been Framed” in South Euclid.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carole (nee Rufo) Zalokar; his step-son, Brian Leslie (Michele); and his nephews, Michael (Jennifer); Matthew; and Patrick Gilbride. John also leaves his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and James Penjak, and their beloved children and grandchildren. John is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Rose (nee Strauss) Zalokar, his sister, Mary Kay (Tom) Gilbride; and brother-in-law, Anthony Rufo.
John loved to travel, and his favorite destinations were Jamaica and St. Marteen. He will always be remembered for the wonderful meals he cooked for family and friends, especially his prime rib, his secret recipe popovers, his potent rum punches and his chocolate raspberry torte cakes.
Family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of mass on Monday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Paltown Foundation, 969 Diggs Road, Crownsville, Maryland 21032.
