Janet (Tanski) Sorz

Mass of Christian Burial for Janet Sorz (nee Tanski), age 89, of Wickliffe, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Janet passed away December 13, 2022.

Janet retired from General Electric Nela Park after 30 years of service. A 1951 graduate of Villa Angela Academy, she was on the honor roll, involved with the glee club, a gym leader and sodalist. She was an avid global traveler, seeker of hidden gems at flea markets, and one of the best jeopardy players. She especially appreciated crafts, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting, which she practiced throughout her life.

A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State football team. She loved to golf, play racquetball, read fiction novels, and go to the beach. A Polish/Slovenian food critic, she could tell you who made the best schnitzel, sausage, pierogi, or strudel, in Cleveland.

Janet was the loving mother of Chris Sorz, Barbara (Kevin) McDonnell, and Diane (Mike) Halladay; cherished grandmother of Liz, Stephen, and Ricky; loving daughter of the late Stanley Tanski and Helen (nee Kubacki); dear sister of Stanley Tanski.

Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp. following the mass.
