Frank L. Fitz

Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Frank Fitz passed away peacefully on July 21, 2021. A proud Wickliffe High School graduate, Frank gratefully returned home after earning his Bachelor's Degree from Youngstown State and became the City of Wickliffe Recreation Director for 30 years, retiring in 2004. While employed by the city, Frank also devoted considerable time to his alma mater as he coached in both the boy’s and girl’s basketball programs at Wickliffe High School.

Frank was an accomplished athlete, being selected as one of the Top 10 area high school basketball players of the 20th century by The News-Herald in 2001. Despite such accolades, though, Frank took most pride in his family. 

Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Geraldine (nee Lipovich); dearest father to David (Marni) Fitz, Michelle (Ronald) Muttillo, Robin (John) Recob and Katie (Brad) Hallam; Frank was happiest when able to spend moments with family. Indeed, Frank was treasured by each of his children and grandchildren, Christopher Fitz, Brandon Fitz (Liz), Nicholas Fitz (Cecilia), David Fitz, Jenna Recob, Jake Recob, Noah Muttillo, Caden Muttillo, Grayson Hallam, Clayton Hallam and great grandchildren, Jonathan Fitz, Lincoln Fitz and Elena Lucia Fitz; dear brother of Lorraine (Arthur) Semlow and Michael (Kathleen) Fitz.

Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank and mother, Helen (nee Gevenosky). 

Frank will forever be remembered fondly by his family and friends playing basketball, golf, walking down Ridge Road, cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh teams and always having an easy smile and welcoming charm that illustrated his love of life with all who came in contact with him.

The family will receive family and friends at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home at 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, on Monday, July 26th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Private Family Service to be held on Tuesday, July 27th.
