Ella Stuck Obituary

Ella Mae Stuck (nee Wheaton), age 93, of Wickliffe, passed away peacefully October 8, 2022.  She was born on February 17, 1929 in Marietta, OH and had moved to Cleveland, OH in the 1940’s. In 1979, she moved to Lake County, OH where she has been a resident for 43 years. Ella was addressed by most of her family and friends over the majority of her life by her middle name “Mae”. It wasn’t until the last few years of her life she was known again by the name of Ella by those around her.

Ella Mae was the dearest mother of Michael (Lisa) Stuck; devoted grandmother of Nicholas and Nathan Stuck; loving daughter of the late Naomi (nee Dennis) Morgan and her stepfather, John Morgan; dear sister of Ethel (Jim) Harrison (both deceased); dear aunt to Janis, Lucille, Virginia, Nancy and Jimmy; dear cousin to so many she adored, often referring to her as Aunt Mae.

Ella Mae taught ballroom dancing in her younger years working for Fred Astaire Dance Studio.  She often spoke about her days teaching dance students the Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango and Rumba to them.  Her favorite dance was the Jitterbug. Besides dancing, Ella Mae loved to Bowl.  She was a regular bowler on a league with her cousins Marilyn, Doris, Louise, Helen and Louise’s friend Sandy.

Other than dancing and bowling, Ella Mae was a huge fan of Elvis Presley and the Cleveland Indians.  No other singer on earth could compare to Elvis.  One of her greatest moments was seeing Elvis live in Concert in 1975 with all her cousins at the Richfield Coliseum. This past July 22, 2022 she got to see Elvis once again on the big screen with her son Michael at the Regal Movie theater in Willoughby. Ella Mae really loved the Cleveland Indians baseball team.  She was fortunate to witness the last Cleveland Indians Championship in 1948 when she graduated from high school. In later years during the 1970’s, she often attended the games with her cousin Marilyn taking her children Lisa and Valerie along with other cousins and her son Michael to games sitting out in right field having the entire empty stadium to themselves.  She continued to root for the Indians until her death even though they changed the name to the Guardians which she really wasn’t too fond of.

Ella Mae’s proudest moment was the birth of her son Michael in 1966 while being a single mother without the support of Michael’s father. She raised Michael with enduring love and supported him in everything he did in life and was so proud of his accomplishments.  Michael’s marriage to Lisa in 1996 followed by the birth of her two grandchildren Nick and Nate became everything to Ella Mae in her later years and made her life complete.
