Dorothy Sue Porter (nee Gurganus), age 67, passed away at her Wickliffe home on September 17, 2022 surrounded by family. Dorothy was born to Johnnie and Irene (nee Winders) Gurganus on September 5, 1955 in Goldsboro, NC and is the widow of Kenneth K. Porter to whom she was married to for 22 years.
Dorothy worked most recently in aerospace manufacturing for nearly two decades with ESCO Turbine Technologies in Eastlake. Dorothy was an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines and enjoyed music, dancing, baking, crafting, cross-stitch, and doodling. She loved relaxing on her front porch chatting with family, friends, and neighbors.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both her parents, husband, six sisters: Inez Brock, Beulah Howell, Linda Pope, Dollie Holland, Betty Gurley, and Mildred Horn, and three brothers: Johnny Gurganus, Willie Gurganus, and Frank Gurganus, and father-in-law Oliver Porter.
Dorothy is survived by her two brothers: Ervin Gurganus and Danny Gurganus; three sons by prior marriage to David Mattiuz: David (Kelly) Mattiuz, Jr., Mark Mattiuz, Kenneth (Jill) Mattiuz; grandchildren, Johnathan Mattiuz (whom she raised as her own), Heaven Culver, Autumn McGrew, Gabrielle McGrew, Dustin Taft, Hailey Mattiuz, and Abigail Mattiuz; and mother-in-law, Estelle Porter.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with a service immediately following led by Rev. Dr. Lawrence Burnley and Min. Naima Quarles-Burnley. Dorothy’s ashes will be interred alongside her late husband at Willoughby Memorial Gardens in a private ceremony with close family at a later date.
