Dan S. Stevens

Dan passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at his home in Kent, OH. He leaves behind his loving family, close co-workers, and good friends. He was known to us all as a caring and compassionate man. Upon graduating from the Ringling School of Art and Design and the University of Florida, he went to work for Howard Pim and Associates in Cleveland. From there, Dan formed The Custom Design Group, which he ran for over ten years. Headquartered in Chagrin Falls, Dan served clients in the Northeast and Southeast, and in the West. He joined the Sedlak Interiors’ design team in 2010 as a buyer and, over time, earned the responsibility for case goods merchandising. The industry and his peers have always recognized Dan as a professional in his field.

Having a background in design, Dan was a very detailed and organized person. He was in the process of remodeling his century home in Kent and could be found almost daily at the local Home Depot. He had a love for art and classical music. Evenings, after work, his after-hours watering hole was at the Firehouse in Willoughby Hills, where he would stop for his nightly Tito’s martini.

Dan’s compassion extended to felines and canines, especially for the homeless, and his donations to the local cat and dog shelters were frequent. He carried a box of milk bones in his car and kept a few in his pockets, to reward a stray or just to say hi to a canine friend. To say he cared for shelter animals is an understatement. He truly loved them.

We will miss you, Dan, Uncle Dan and Danny. You made the world a better place for us all and we will remember you forever. Rest in peace, gentle man.

A mass of celebration will be held at The Church of the Gesu 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Hts., on Friday, October 13th at 2 p.m. followed by a martini toast in Dan’s honor at the Firehouse Grille & Pub 2768 Stark Dr., Willoughby Hills.

Donations are encouraged in Dan’s name to the Animal Protective League of Cleveland, or to any local animal shelter.
