Daisy Simmons Obituary

Minister Daisy Lewis Simmons, left this earthly realm the morning of April 22, 2020 and entered into eternity. She was 73 years young. She spent the majority of her time loving on her children, grandchildren, other family members, friends and neighbors. Many lessons were learned from spending time with her, but the most profound experiences were most recent. It would be wrong to say that she lost her battle with cancer because she never stopped fighting. She fought to show strength. She fought for breath. She fought because she knew her family and friends needed her. She never complained about her circumstances. She never indicated her pain. She became the picture of resilience and strength for her family and friends. She will be desperately missed and eternally loved. 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Minister Simmons was born on August 2, 1946 in Forkland Alabama. In 1965 she headed north with Calvin Leo Lewis (B.1942 - D. 2009) to raise a family. They resided in Wickliffe for over 40 years. She later moved to Richmond Heights Ohio and married Sanford Simmons (B.1931 - D. 2017).

Daisy was a member of Promised Land Full Gospel Baptist Church. She enjoyed preaching and sharing the good word. She was a member of the group "Mothers That Pray". Daisy loved playing cards and dominoes. Don't even think about being her partner if you were a newbie. She loved free buffets, free play, winning, cooking, shopping, handbags and shoes.

Daisy was the dearest mother of Darryl Lewis, Bridget Lewis, Sheri (Antonio) Coleman, Calvin (Deandra) Lewis and Justice Lewis; devoted grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 6; dear sister of Bill, Nora, Mary, Gwendolyn, Jacqueline, Louis, Wallace and Earnestine. She was preceded in death by her beloved 1st husband Calvin Lewis; 2nd husband Sanford Simmons, and siblings Mack, James and her twin sister Rosie.

"I've had some good days. I've had some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and some sleepless nights. But when I look around, and I think things over, all of my good days out-weigh my bad days. I won't complain. God has been so good to me, so I'll just say thank you Lord." Rev. Paul Jones "I Won't Complain"
