Mass of Christian Burial for Carmen J. Latessa, age 85, of Eastlake and formerly of Wickliffe, will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Mr. Latessa passed away January 13, 2022 and was born on October 16, 1936 in Wickliffe, OH to the late Carmen and Mary (nee Palermo).
Carmen retired from Kenna Metal as a Senior Buyer after 30 years. He attended Wickliffe High School where he loved playing football. Carmen was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and at the age of 17 he entered the Air Force and played football for them as well.
He was a member of the Wickliffe Italian American Club where he was a former Vice President, served on the Parliamentary Board, and was a Sergeant at Arms. Carmen volunteered for the Special Olympics for many years and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He was a very generous person, giving to anyone in need and always donating to charitable organizations.
Carmen was a huge Cleveland Browns fan, loved playing bocce, was an avid golfer, but most of all, he lived for his grandson Hunter and his family.
Carmen was the beloved husband of Theresa (nee Di Petta); dearest father of Carmel; devoted grandfather of Hunter Just; dear brother of Eleanor (Justin, deceased) Silvaroli, Bart (deceased) (Jean), Carol (Richard) D’Angelo (both deceased) and Beverly (David, deceased) Loparo; dear uncle to many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was preceded in death by his six loving miniature schnauzers.
The family will receive friends at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe on Tuesday, January 18th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
