Mass of Christian Burial for Antonio Fratino, age 93, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Ss. Robert and William Church 367 East 260th St., Euclid. Antonio passed away Saturday, October 3, 2020 at his home in Willoughby. Born November 9, 1926 in Wickliffe, he married Dorothy Ann (nee Tarasco) on May 29, 1954 and had lived in Euclid for 60 years before moving to Willoughby four years ago.
A World War II veteran, upon graduating from Wickliffe High School in 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served aboard the USS Blessman APD-48 in the Pacific theater.
After the war, he used the GI Bill on a vocational training program with Ohio Rubber Company where he would work for 16 years before leaving to become a Facilities Supervisor at General Electric, from which he retired in 1991.
He was a member of the Wickliffe Italian-American Club, American Legion Post 7 in Wickliffe and Ss. Robert and William Catholic Parish in Euclid. He enjoyed his vegetable garden, bocce ball tournaments, eating spaghetti with a spoon, the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Football, Blessman reunions, visits from family and friends, telling stories of his days in the Navy and of the 150 dates he had to go on before he found “The One”.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy A. (nee Tarasco); daughters Linda (Gerry) Moffa of Winter Springs, FL, Karen (Walter) Vance of Painesville, OH; son Joe (Heather) Fratino of Parker, CO; daughter-in-law Kathy Fratino; grandchildren Stephanie (Sean) Day, Michael Glasney, Nicholas Moffa, William Vance, Jacqueline Vance, Tommy Fratino, Anthony Fratino, Joey Fratino and Dominic Fratino; great-granddaughters Cadence Fratino, Madeline Day and Natalie Day; sisters-in-law Nell Fratino, Dolores Fratino, and Shirley Tarasco, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Carmella (nee Russo) Fratino; brothers Michael, Philip and Louis Fratino; and son, Thomas A Fratino.
The family will receive friends at THE ORLANDO-DONSANTE-PREVITE FUNERAL HOME 29550 EUCLID AVE., WICKLIFFE ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2020 FROM 2:00 TO 4:00 PM AND 6:00 TO 8:00 PM. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
