Anthony Armond Gambatese, age 77, passed away peacefully in the arms of his devoted wife at his home in Willowick, Ohio on August 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Anthony was born on December 23, 1943 to Anthony and Josephine (nee LaConte) Gambatese. He grew up in Wickliffe, Ohio with four brothers: Bob, Frank, Kenny and David. He was a M-14 Marksman in the Army and he was stationed in Germany where he trained for his career as an electrician. Throughout his long career as an electrician he was the Union Steward for IBEW Local 673 and was a strong advocate for his fellow workers. He retired as an electrician working side by side with his son Anthony in completing the Captain's Stadium.
Anthony lived life to the fullest and it was evident in his many interests and hobbies. He was a man of many talents including: building his own Harley Davidson and black powder rifles, fishing, hunting, woodworking, golfing, saltwater aquariums, and even obtaining a pilot's license for single engine airplanes. He was a member of the Iron Horsemen motorcycle club and took many cross country road trip. He was an outdoor enthusiast and learned the love of fishing from his father and then passed that onto his children and grandchildren. He also loved connecting with people on his HAM Radios and participating in frontier reenactments.
Anthony is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Frances Gambatese (nee Zingale); dearest father to five children Anthony Gambatese, Christine Gambatese, Elizabeth Gambatese-Somody (Kevin Somody), Matthew Gambatese (Annette Johnson) and Melissa Gambatese; Anthony loved having all of his grandchildren near him, Alyssa Somody, Jason McGlynn, Zack Platia (deceased), Kevin Somody II, Charles Platia III, Angela Somody, Anthony Evangelista, Milania Platia and his great grandchildren Parker Somody, Holden Somody-Yasko, whom he spent many vacations and Sunday gatherings with.
The family will receive friends at THE ORLANDO-DONSANTE-PREVITE FUNERAL HOME 29550 EUCLID AVE., WICKLIFFE ON MONDAY AUGUST 16TH FROM 5:00 TO 8:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 17th at St. Mary Magdalene Church 32114 Vine St. Willowick. Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
