It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sergio L. (Sid) Munoz, Jr., age 94, of Willoughby Hills, who passed away peacefully April 10, 2026. The eldest of seven children, Sid was born July 9, 1931, in Caibarién, Cuba to the late Sergio Luis and Erena (nee Alvarez) Munoz. He grew up in Cienfuegos, Cuba before emigrating to the US in 1955 to attend college in Berea, KY.

In 1961, he married his first wife Betty, settled in Wickliffe, OH, and together they raised three children: Lori, David, and Amy. Sid worked as a jeweler and salesman in the Cleveland area, including 28 years as a salesman for Sears in Richmond Heights before retiring.

For the last 25 years, Sid shared his life with Mary Anne Vilyus, whom he married in 2022. Together Sid and Mary Anne enjoyed an active social life in their Conway, SC neighborhood and were devoted members of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.

Sid was happiest spending time with his children and six grandchildren in South Carolina. He enjoyed working as a handy man, fishing and golfing. And he kept his connection to his Cuban heritage through his love of baseball. From the time he first settled in Cleveland through his retirement in South Carolina, Sid would connect with Cuban baseball players coming through town for games.

Sid is survived by his son David Munoz (Sharon) and their children Emily and Noah; his daughter Amy Hurwitz (Joel) and their children Jonah, Ben and Charlie; and granddaughter Jenny. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lori, and his wife, Mary Anne Vilyus. He is also remembered with fondness by Betty Munoz, the mother of his children.

Private Inurnment will take place in Whitehaven Memorial Park at a later date.
