Luncheon to honor Norman at the church following the service. Norman passed on April 3, 2017 at Slovene Home for the Aged in Cleveland. Born September 10, 1922 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada he grew up in Euclid and lived in Wickliffe before moving to Willowick 17 years ago. A graduate of Euclid Central High School, Norman joined the Army Air Corp during WWII. During his fighting for his country his bomber was shot down in Asia after which he spent 6 months recovering from the injuries received. The lasting injuries received did not slow him down as he went on to work on the Railroad and moved on to a 30 year career at GM (Fisher Body Cleveland) where he retired in 1982 as Traffic Manager. During that time he also received a degree from Western Reserve University and took additional classes at Fenn College. Being a civic minded individual, Norman served on various committees in the city of Wickliffe and Lake County for many years. He also served as Mayor of Wickliffe in the late 60's. After his retirement he continued to stay active by volunteering for the Clothe-a-child Program, helping seniors prepare their tax returns and taking on a paper route where he walked his neighborhood each day to get the papers delivered. In his later years he was a great supporter of the Arts in Cleveland with attendance and generous donations to the Cleveland Art Museum and Cleveland Orchestra. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Epiphany in Euclid, where he also served on the Vestry and as Sexton for many years. Being an athlete in high school Norman was a great supporter of the athletic endeavors of his children, grand-children and great grand-children. He also supported their academic endeavors as they ventured through college and out into their careers always being a voice of reason and support for the paths they have chosen but also providing advice and guidance should they lose direction. Norman enjoyed gardening (having numerous community plots in Wickliffe and Eastlake), fishing, stamp and coin collecting. In his later years he enjoyed traveling abroad with his second wife Helen. Norman is survived by his wife of 17 years Helen (Bernardo) Allison; grandchildren, Fielding (Diane) Featherston of Vermilion, Kimberly Featherston of Medina, Norman Dean (Diane) Allison of Amherst, Matthew E. Allison of Mentor, Debra Rithman of Newbury and Bryant Rithman of Richmond, VA; 6 great grand-children and 2 great great grand-children. His 1st wife of over 50 years Marjorie (Neal) Allison, his son Norman Neal ("Buddy") Allison and his daughter Cathleen Allison preceded Norman in death. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman's memory to the Church of the Epiphany, 21000 Lakeshore Blvd., Euclid, OH 44123 are requested.
