(Picciano) Spronz
May 9, 1936 – February 4, 2026
Mass of Christian Burial for Filomena P. Spronz (nee Picciano), age 89, a lifelong resident of Wickliffe, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 29850 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Mrs. Spronz passed away February 4, 2026. She was born May 9, 1936 in Cleveland, OH.
Filomena was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church where she was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Society. She was a 1954 graduate of Wickliffe High School and was the Homecoming Queen during her senior year, later went on to graduate from Ohio University in 1958 and eventually received her master's degree from Cleveland State University in 1972.
In 1957 she completed an internship with University Hospitals as a dietitian and later taught at Cuyahoga Community College, Lakeland Community College and Wickliffe High School. Filomena was the founder and director of WIC Lake Co. and later received a distinguished award for this achievement from both the governor of Ohio and U.S. Congress.
Filomena was a phenomenal quilter and made quilts for all of her grandchildren, and every Friday she always made her homemade pizza and sausage. She was loved by everyone she met and will be dearly missed.
Filomena was the beloved wife of 64 years to Louis; loving mother of Michael (Sue), Mark (Connie), Matthew, Roseanne (David) Bukovec, Luanne (Richard) Iannetta and Mitchell; devoted grandmother of Corey, Sarah, Samantha, Nicole, Nicholas, Phillip, Anthony, Nora and Vivian Spronz, and Daniel (Hailey), Greggory and Kenny Hoberney, and Gabriella and Richard Iannetta and great grandmother of Xavier, Railynn, Lulynn and Vincenzo; cherished daughter of the late Liberato and Lucia Picciano; dear sister of Nicholas (Theresa) Picciano, Lorenza (Dominic) Albanese, Mary (Jack) Biondolillo, Antoinette (Carmen) Mucciarone and Ercolo (MaryAnn) Picciano (all deceased); dear aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at THE ORLANDO-DONSANTE-PREVITE FUNERAL HOME 29550 EUCLID AVE., WICKLIFFE, ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH FROM 2:00 TO 4:00 P.M. AND 6:00 TO 8:00 P.M. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp. following the mass on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Filomena's memory to the Mt. Carmel Society 1730 Mt. Carmel Dr., Wickliffe, OH 44092.
