November 29, 1922 – November 14, 2018
Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene P. Koval, age 95, of Wickliffe, will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018 at St. Stephen Byzantine Church 532 Lloyd Rd., Euclid. Mr. Koval passed away November 14, 2018 and was born on November 29, 1922 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. He was a resident of East Cleveland for 14 years before moving to Wickliffe in 1955.
Eugene served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from General Motors Fisher Body Division as a payroll accountant.
He was a member of St. Stephen Byzantine Church in Euclid where he was the Choir Director for 35 years (1958-93), a member of the St. Stephen's Holy Name Society, Rosary Society and Treasurer of the former St. Stephen's Jolly Travelers Retirees Club. Eugene was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Moses Cleaveland Assembly 800 and Euclid Council 3164 and past Secretary of GCU Lodge 336.
His main hobby was composing and arranging music. Of the many songs which he composed, a waltz entitled, Our Swiss Chalet, was recorded by the Joey Tomsick Orchestra on his award winning CD "Polka Fun House."
Eugene was the dearest father of Larry (Margaret) and Kathleen (Patrick) Heidenthal; devoted grandfather of Kelli (Michael) Starick, Ryan and Eric Heidenthal, Kristen (Craig) Haislip and Alex Koval; dear brother in law to Raymond Rocco, Dr. Joseph Rocco, Anthony Rocco and Rose McDonnell and their spouses; dear cousin to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (nee Rocco) and his parents Peter and Susan (nee Boretsky).
The family will receive friends at The Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe on Sunday November 18 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Parastas Service 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp.
