Anne J. Lukanc (nee Kovacic), age 97, passed away peacefully at Danbury Senior Living in Mentor September 28, 2022. She was born in Cleveland, OH on October 1, 1924 to Anna and Anton Kovacic. She married the love of her life, Ludwig Lukanc, on August 21, 1943, and enjoyed an amazing life together, just short of 60 years, until his passing in 2003. Their love and devotion to each other was evidenced by all who knew them.

Before moving to Mentor, Anne was a longtime Wickliffe resident and a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.

She is survived by her children, Jerry (Nancy) Lukanc and Jeanne (Tom) Pastoric; grandchildren, Anne, Christopher and David (Julie) Lukanc, Jayme (Erin), Brian (Traci) and Ally Pastoric (Vince); great-grandchildren, Dean and Davis Pastoric and Dylan Lukanc; and devoted nephew Bob (Donna) Fortuna.

She  was preceded in death by her husband Lud; parents, Anna and Anton Kovacic and sister, Josephine Fortuna.

Anne graduated from Collinwood High School in 1942. She worked at Bailey Meter/Babcock-Wilcox for twenty-six years, retiring in 1984.  She traveled with Lud to many beautiful places, usually involving golf, riding on the cart with him and enjoying all the amenities of the resort.  Anne and Lud were active members of SNPJ Lodge.  She volunteered for twenty years with JFK Comfort Elves, sewing blankets and pillows for Hospice patients, receiving many awards for her hard work and dedication under RSVP.  She was a master-crocheter-knitter-embroiderer, making intricate and unique afghan blankets for her loved ones.  She took great pride and joy in her family, home and beautiful garden.

Anne's family will be forever grateful for the loving, compassionate care provided by Danbury Senior Living of Mentor and Caretenders Hospice throughout her long journey with Alzheimer's.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests taking a senior to dinner to share their memories with you, or a donation to JFK Comfort Elves, 600 E. 349 St., Eastlake, OH 44095.
