Funeral Services for James Carl Wuerthele, age 94, of Wickliffe and formerly of Mentor, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 12, 2019 at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe.
Mr. Wuerthele passed away January 6, 2019 at Brookdale of Wickliffe. He was born on November 27, 1924 in Wickliffe. James had lived most of his life in Mentor before coming back to Wickliffe where he passed away.
He had worked for 30 years with Addressograph-Multigraph in Euclid and 6 years with Andrews School in Willoughby.
James was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served in WWII and was also a Navy Seabee. He served in the Allutian Islands, Pearl Harbor and Iwo Jima. Mr. Wuerthele was a member of the Willoughby Browning Center, Mentor Methodist and a longtime softball player for various teams in Lake County and 10 years with the “Babes of 1916” of Solon, OH.
James was the dearest father of James C. Jr. and Cheryl Langley; devoted grandfather of Christine (Dean) Schauer, Roy E. (Michele) Langley, Jason and great grandfather of Brittanie, Caitlyn, Evan, Jessika and Joshua; dear brother of Audrey Mae Zifko and Brenda Ziska; dear brother-in-law of June Wuerthele.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Norma Jean (nee Bradley). It was love at first sight, a love that lasted a lifetime, an amazing 68 years; his brother William and sister Betty; brother-in-law’s Norman Clayman, Bob Zifko and Joe Ziska.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday January 11 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
