Catherine E (Bunsey) Crow

Funeral Services for Catherine Eileen (nee Bunsey) Crow, age 85, of Mentor and formerly of Wickliffe, will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday May 26, 2018 at The Orlando-Donsante Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe. Mrs. Crow passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018. Born July 8, 1932, Catherine was a graduate of Collinwood High School and earned her Master’s degree in English from Cleveland State University. She had a very fulfilling career as an English teacher in the Wickliffe Jr. and Sr. High School and left a permanent impression on so many students she had the pleasure to teach.   

Catherine retired in 1992 and enjoyed a full and active life with her husband Charles.  She was an avid reader and loved poetry, but she was also active playing golf and tennis and displaying class and grace on the dance floor.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and sharing many of her favorite places including, vacations at Sunset Beach, NC, camping in the Adirondack Mountains, NY and winters in Port Charlotte, FL with her family and friends for many years.  She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother whose impression will be everlasting.

She was the loving mother of sons Chuck (Terry) Crow of Mentor, Marty (Andrea) Crow of Loveland, OH, Bill (Laura) Crow of Frisco Texas, and daughter Cathy (Steve) Araps of Concord.  Her grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy include Hugh (Jessica) Araps and Peter Araps of Concord, Katelyn (Danny) Chase of Cincinnati, Kyle (Tara) Crow of Cincinnati, Catherine Crow, Max (Maureen) Crow of Mentor, Christine Barozzi (Peter) and Drew Crow (Kelsey Martin) of Boston. She is also survived by three great grandchildren, Daxton Crow, Charley Chase and Caleb Araps.

Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, her sister and brother-in-law Mary & Lou Kasunic, her brother William Bunsey, and her parents William T. and Katherine M. Bunsey.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to the caregivers at Salida Woods Assisted Living for caring for our mother so well for the past 3 ½ yrs. Also, the family would like to send a thank you to Stacy, Audrey, and Amber of the Hospice of the Western Reserve for the wonderful care and compassion you gave to our mother and to us over this past year. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Hospice of the Western Reserve 17876 St. Clair Ave., Cleveland, OH 44110 or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Cleveland Chapter 23215 Commerce Park, Suite 300, Beachwood, OH 44122.
