Mass of Christian Burial for Dr. Louis J. Vitantonio “Doc”, age 88, of Wickliffe, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Church 6850 Mayfield Rd., Gates Mills. Louis was born December 4, 1935 in Wickliffe, OH to the late Peter and Clara (nee Cirino).
Doc was a U.S. Army veteran and lifelong resident of Wickliffe, attending Wickliffe schools and later graduating from Wickliffe High School in 1953 where he was a four-sport letterman and met his high school sweetheart and late wife Dorothy. He grew up working in the family businesses at Wickliffe Floral Company and Wickliffe Winery. After high school he went on to attend Western Reserve University for his undergrad and dental school. Louis was a Dentist who had his own practice, Louis J. Vitantonio, D.D.S. and practiced in Wickliffe for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity and the Wickliffe Italian-American Club. Doc was huge a fan of Cleveland sports, loved classic rock music, especially Pink Floyd, cooking, gardening, boating, fishing, and spending time in Naples, FL for 40 years. His number one joy in life was spending time with his children and grandchildren where he and his wife Dorothy instilled in them to cherish their family and their Italian and Macedonian heritage.
Louis was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Manzoff); dearest father of Peter A. (deceased) (Debbie), Louis S., Denise (Tony) Suglia, Clarice (Graziano) Mandato and Valerie (Mark) Gaspar; devoted grandfather of Peter T., Bryan (Shaina), Michael (Nicole), Rossella (Sean), Oriana (Nico), Gabriella, Talia (fiancé Gavin), Antonella, Louis W., Marisa, Antonio, Gianna, Marco, Mario and great grandfather of Everly, Tucker, Viviana, Phili, Giovanni and Declan.
The family will receive friends at The Orlando-Donsante-Previte Funeral Home 29550 Euclid Ave., Wickliffe, on Wednesday, April 17th from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Entombment will be in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Twp. following mass on Thursday.
